Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa (St. Kevin’s NS) has been at it’s current location since 1934. The school has seen many changes in all aspects of life since then, not least growing to an enrolment of 135 boys and girls in September 2018, with four separate extensions and renovations in the past 25 years.
Our school is run by a hard-working and supportive Board of Management and has an active Parent’s Association whose involvement is encouraged and appreciated. It is a five classroom school with an office, learning support rooms, ASD classroom with designated support rooms and a spacious hall. We also have two hard surface play areas and a deciduous woodland in a beautiful setting, overlooked by Brockagh and Derrybawn Mountains in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park.
The four seasons are reflected in the many habitats in our school grounds including fruit and vegetables garden, heather beds and a strawberry bed. The Deciduous Woodland is being developed as our Outdoor Classroom and will have a variety of habitats that will support the children’s learning and understanding of the four seasons.
We are a co-educational, Roman Catholic primary school, under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin. We are an inclusive school and have a strong, dynamic and interactive relationship with our local community. While our school reflects its distinctly Irish cultural, social, economic and religious past we also strive to increasingly, take cognisance of the changing nature of society.
We endeavour to respond to our pupils as individuals and aim to achieve excellence in teaching and learning for all the children in our school. We are committed to the holistic development of the children in our care, and to making a positive difference in their lives enabling them to live in a global society.
